St. Luke’s Community House
Walking Alongside Our Neighbors
At St. Bartholomew, our Mission & Outreach (M&O) ministry is rooted in the belief that true Christian love means walking alongside our neighbors in their times of need. We've found a kindred spirit in St. Luke's Community House, an organization that has been faithfully serving Nashville families for over a century. Founded in 1913 by our fellow Episcopalians in Middle Tennessee, St. Luke's shares our commitment to meeting people exactly where they are and empowering them toward a brighter future.
A Legacy of Love in Action
Every day at St. Luke's, something beautiful happens. Children who might otherwise lack quality childcare receive literacy-rich education. Seniors who could go days without seeing another person receive not just a nutritious meal, but a warm smile and genuine care. Families facing homelessness find the support they need to get back on their feet.
St. Luke's serves more than 6,500 people annually through comprehensive programs that address the whole person. The Food Pantry is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30am to 2:30pm and Tuesday evenings from 4-6pm, welcoming any Davidson County resident. Their Mobile Meals program delivers fresh and frozen meals to seniors and adults with disabilities every Tuesday and Thursday, providing not just nutrition but also the priceless gift of human connection.
This is James 1:27 in action: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress."
Why This Matters to Us
Nashville's most vulnerable neighbors often slip through the cracks. Working families who can't afford quality childcare. Seniors living alone with limited mobility. Families one crisis away from homelessness. St. Luke's stands in the gap, providing a safety net woven with love and dignity.
