Adult Formation

Formation doesn’t end with high school. At St. B’s, we believe adult faith formation is essential for deepening our love of God and neighbor.

Sunday Mornings (10 a.m., September–May)

We offer classes, Bible studies, and seasonal series that explore Scripture, theology, justice, and spiritual practices — often led by clergy, guest speakers, or lay leaders.

May 3, 10 and 17 Adult Formation Offerings

🌳 Indigenous People and the Church

Starting May 3, join us for a three-week adult formation class sponsored by the Justice Ministry and Creation Care Ministry focused on the topic of Indigenous peoples. We’ll explore our country’s and our denomination’s history and politics regarding Indigenous peoples, reflect on Indigenous spiritualities, and listen to the real-life stories of some Indigenous people in our own community.

Our goal in this series is not to solve the issues, but to learn together. Along the way, we hope to grow in compassion, deepen our relationship with the rest of the created order, and discover faithful ways to engage as Christians.

May 3: Rev. Canon Mary Crist (Piitaki/Eagle Woman), Coordinator of Indigenous Theological Education for The Episcopal Church, will help us explore the history of the Church of England/The Episcopal Church and native peoples in our country, and the political and social forces that have brought us to where we are today.

May 10: Rev. Canon Mary Crist will guide us in considering traditional Indigenous spiritualities and connections with Judeo-Christian contexts, texts, and traditions.

May 17: Hear from a local Cherokee man; Indigenous voices represented from Latin America; and the chaplain at Larkspur regarding life experiences and what is being done/can be done about the many issues raised, including healing from religious wounds, intercultural dialogue, advocacy for policy policies, lifestyle considerations, and connection to the land.

We hope you’ll join us for this important series—come with your questions, your curiosity, and your openness to learning together.

🐋 The Book of Jonah in Art and Tradition

Join Fr. Josh and Rob Alley as we explore the wonderfully varied and unique tradition of imagining one of the most well known biblical stories.  We will learn about the context and interpretations of Jonah, how the book has been conveyed through art, poetry, and prose as well as explore why Jonah and the great fish was one of the earliest Christian symbols.

Weekday Opportunities

Throughout the week, we offer Bible studies, small groups, book studies, and retreats designed to help adults engage their faith in everyday life. Visit the Events Calendar or contact the church office to learn about current offerings.
