The Village at Glencliff

Creating Sacred Space for Healing

At St. Bartholomew, our Mission & Outreach (M&O) ministry understands that sometimes the most profound acts of love happen in the quiet moments when society isn't watching. That's where we find The Village at Glencliff, a remarkable ministry born from the vision of Rev. Ingrid McIntyre and the generous heart of Glencliff United Methodist Church, which donated a portion of their land to make healing possible for Nashville's most vulnerable neighbors.

A Revolutionary Act of Hospitality

The Village at Glencliff offers something unique and needed. When someone experiencing homelessness is discharged from the hospital, they typically return to the streets, often leading to repeated hospitalizations. The Village breaks that cycle with twelve beautifully designed micro-homes that offer dignity, safety, and time to heal.

Here, residents like Anthony Jackson find not just shelter, but community. After being homeless since 2004, Anthony now serves as the groundskeeper and says, "I feel valuable now."

This is Hebrews 13:2 in action: "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

Why This Matters to Us

The Village fills a profound need in Nashville's Continuum of Care, serving individuals who are medically vulnerable and experiencing chronic homelessness. These are our neighbors who often become invisible to society, yet each carries immeasurable worth in God's eyes.

The Village's Impact:

  • 12 tiny homes providing bridge housing until permanent housing is secured

  • Medical respite care for people coming directly from hospitals

  • Community gardens where residents grow their own food

  • Holistic support, including case management and life skills training

  • Regular gardening gatherings on the second and fourth Saturday of each month

  • Currently serving 11 residents—9 individuals and one couple

  • One single-occupancy home is undergoing repairs and will soon be move-in ready

  • One two-person house is available now and can accommodate a couple or an individual in a wheelchair
