Children’s Formaiton
At St. B’s, we seek to nurture children in a joyful, growing relationship with God. From the nursery to upper elementary, we provide a sacred space where children are known, loved, and invited to experience the presence of God.
Nursery (2 months – 3 years old)
Available Sundays from 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (9:15–10:45 a.m. in the summer), our nursery is staffed by trained caregivers who provide a safe, nurturing environment for our littlest ones. During the Formation Hour (10–11 a.m.), 2- and 3-year-olds enjoy a Bible story, music, and simple crafts.
All caregivers are background-checked, vaccinated for COVID-19, and trained in Safe Church practices.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (3 years – 3rd grade)
This Montessori-based method of spiritual formation invites children to encounter Scripture and the Liturgy in beautifully prepared spaces called atria. Children reflect, pray, and work with hands-on materials designed to help them explore the mystery of God’s love.
Level 1 (3–6 years): Centers on the parable of the Good Shepherd (John 10) — helping children know they are loved, known, and called by name.
Level 2 (6–9 years): Explores the True Vine (John 15) and God's unfolding story through time. Children begin to ask how they are called to live as part of the Kingdom of God.
456 (4th–6th Grades)
In this next phase of faith, children study the covenants of God and the Good News of Jesus. They meet on Sunday mornings and also gather once a month for a special service project or community celebration.
Children’s Homily (3–12 years old)
During the 8:30 a.m. service (9:30 in summer), children are invited to follow the cross to Wallace Hall after the Gospel reading for a brief, age-appropriate homily and reflection. They return in time for Communion.
Children are always welcome to remain in the sanctuary — we love their presence in worship.
