Celebrations
Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament of belonging — the moment we are adopted into the Body of Christ. At St. Bartholomew’s, we joyfully welcome people of all ages to receive the sacrament of Holy Baptism.
Baptisms are typically celebrated during Sunday worship, surrounded by the community who promises to support the newly baptized in their life in Christ. We baptize using the Trinitarian formula — in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — through the sprinkling of water.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a sacred opportunity for teenagers and adults to publicly affirm their faith and commitment to Jesus Christ as expressed through the Episcopal Church. It is a time to say “yes” to Christ’s call and to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by a bishop.
To be confirmed, individuals must be baptized, instructed in the Christian faith, and ready to affirm Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Our bishop visits St. B’s annually in late spring or early summer to offer confirmations, receptions (for those coming from other liturgical traditions), and reaffirmations.
Weddings
Christian marriage is a sacred covenant. At St. B’s, we believe that loving, lifelong relationships are a gift from God. In the presence of God and the gathered community, couples make vows and receive God's grace and blessing to help them fulfill those promises.
If you're interested in being married at St. B’s, we’d be honored to walk alongside you in preparation for this meaningful step.
Funerals
Funerals and memorial services are sacred times to remember, give thanks, and entrust loved ones to God's eternal care. We offer services of The Burial of the Dead from the Book of Common Prayer — deeply moving liturgies that speak of resurrection hope.
We work closely with families to create a service that honors the life of the deceased and reflects their faith. Receptions may follow in Wallace Hall or the Gym, depending on availability and family preference.
