MLK Day March on January 19
The MLK National Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make communities more equitable and take action to create Dr. King’s dream of Beloved Community. Join Matthew Sullivan and Fr. Ed Smith as they again lead St. B’s families in the MLK March on Monday, January 19.
Park at Hadley Park (1037 28th Avenue North) or use 28th Avenue street parking and meet Matthew & Ed at 8:45 am at the corner of Jefferson Street and 28th Avenue North across from the Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church. Look for the St. B’s banner!
At 9 am, we’ll join the March (.8 miles) to the Gentry Center on the TSU campus. Inside, there will be an opportunity to visit tables and booths representing Nashville community and church organizations actively working for racial and economic justice. Plan to stay for the highlight of the morning, the 10 am Annual MLK Day Convocation featuring speakers and musical guests from around the city and region.
The March and Convocation are the culmination of a week’s worth of events. There are many special events happening all over the city in the lead-up to the March itself. Read about all the week’s events here.
