New Life Restoration Ministries

Where Hope Rises from the Heart of Africa

At St. Bartholomew, our Mission & Outreach (M&O) ministry knows that sometimes the most transformative work happens in places the world has forgotten. That's where we find New Life Restoration Ministries, a beacon of hope rising from Kibera, one of Africa's largest urban settlements. Founded in 1997 by Bishop Dr. Paul Mbithi and Reverend Grace Mbithi, this remarkable ministry has spent over 25 years proving that hope, healing, and transformation are not only possible, they're happening every single day.

Building Tomorrow from Today's Broken Places

New Life Restoration Ministries serves the heart of Kibera, home to nearly 900,000 residents, through programs that address both immediate needs and long-term transformation. Since its founding, the ministry has grown to 60 branches across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, but its core work remains rooted in the community.

The Springs of Life Children's Restoration Center provides a safe haven for over 113 orphaned and vulnerable children, offering comprehensive care that includes life skills training, vocational preparation, and holistic support. Their Restoration Educational Centre serves 210+ children, both those living at the center and others from the surrounding community, including many from Muslim families. To date, 275 graduates have been equipped to break cycles of poverty in their communities.

Beyond education and childcare, their community programs include food distribution, youth mentorship, women's empowerment initiatives, water purification projects, and cottage industries that teach entrepreneurial skills for sustainable income generation.

This is James 1:27 in action: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Why This Matters to Us
