Vestry Meeting – February 2026
The Vestry met on February 8 in Wallace Hall, beginning with prayer and a reflection on 1 Corinthians 12, emphasizing that the church thrives when each member contributes their unique gifts. This theme framed much of the evening’s work and conversation.
A significant portion of the meeting focused on the church’s facilities and long-term building planning. Building Committee Chair Jared Danford introduced the committee’s exploratory process, which is just getting underway. The goal is to thoughtfully evaluate current needs, building conditions, and congregational priorities before making any major decisions. Over the coming months, the committee will review survey data, assess potential improvements, and develop a high-level scope and cost outlook. By early summer, they expect to bring forward recommendations for next steps. Vestry members expressed strong support for a careful, transparent process that aligns with the church’s long-term vision and financial realities.
The Vestry also handled several annual organizational actions, including approving the Annual Parochial Report and affirming leadership roles for the year. Elizabeth Nunley and Jason Truss were confirmed as Senior and Junior Wardens, respectively, with David West serving as Treasurer and Josh Franklin as Clerk.
In financial updates, the Treasurer noted that January’s numbers were unusually affected by the recent ice storm, making it difficult to draw meaningful conclusions at this stage of the year.
Church leadership shared several important ministry updates. The Annual Meeting was celebrated as a success, and four new Vestry members were welcomed. The parish is also navigating a staff transition, as Suzanne Di Piazza, Director of Children and Family Faith Formation, will be stepping down after Ash Wednesday. In the interim, staff and volunteers are stepping in while the search for a successor is underway.
Looking ahead, the Vestry highlighted upcoming Lenten opportunities, parish events, and a Vestry retreat in March, which will provide additional time for deeper planning and reflection.
The meeting concluded with prayer, with a shared sense of purpose and commitment to the continued growth and ministry of St. Bartholomew’s.
