Pastoral Care

Our clergy are available for pastoral conversation, guidance, hospital visits, and in emergency situations. If you or someone you know needs a visit, please reach out to Dorman Burch (known as Butch), the Assistant to the Rector for Pastoral Care, or Rev. Serena at pastoralcare@stbs.net or ssides@stbs.net

Meals for Parishioners

Manna provides meals for individuals and families in the midst of illness or recovery and utilizes the app “Take Them A Meal” for scheduling and distribution. This ministry also provides meals for families with newborns and adoptees. Please contact Mindy Mumme if you or someone you know at the parish needs a meal.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Our Lay Eucharistic Visitors are volunteers “empowered by the Holy Spirit, licensed for term by the Bishop upon appointment by the Rector, to deliver the Consecrated Elements to those unable to attend [in-church] Celebrations.” As someone once wrote, “[We] carry the Parish with [us] as a sign of the whole community’s care, support and concern for the sick, recuperating and infirm.” It is a ministry especially of presence, healing and hope. If you would like to schedule a visit from a LEV or if you know someone who might want a visit, please contact Assistant to the Rector for Pastoral Care Dorman Burch

Parish Prayer

We are a praying people at St. Bartholomew's. We are also committed to prayer for people, places, and particular situations. You can submit a prayer request at anytime to prayer@stbs.net.

Parish Prayer List

Rev. Serena maintains a church-wide prayer list. This includes those who have died and their families. The first names are read aloud during weekday Holy Eucharists and held in private prayer by clergy and staff. The St. B's family is invited in the weekly email to join the prayers for these individuals. If you would like to add a name to the parish prayer list, please email Rev. Serena Sides or Dorman Burtch, Assistant to the Rector for Pastoral Care. Circumstances are kept in confidence.

Prayer Group

St. Bartholomew's has a dedicated group of parish members ready at home for confidential intercessory prayer on behalf of the needs of parishioners, their families, the church, neighbors and the community. Please contact Assistant to the Rector for Pastoral Care Dorman Burtch for your prayers to be forwarded to our prayer group. If you would like to be part of this group, please also reach out to Dorman.

Prayer Desk

Following the administration of Holy Communion on Sundays, intercessors are stationed in the narthex ready to pray with anyone who desires it. After receiving communion, anyone is invited to come to the prayer desk. Petitions, intercessions, and thanksgivings were all welcome.

Intercessors usually serve once a month at one service. Contact Pam MacArthur if you would like to be part of this praying team.
