Volunteering

We offer ways for parishioners to engage in our community as a way to live into the promise in our Baptismal Covenant, "to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves." (Book of Common Prayer, p. 304) The Mission & Outreach Committee's community engagement team is integral to this effort. Contact Rev. Serena here if you have any questions.

Shower Up Nashville

We offer regular volunteer opportunities to welcome and care for guests at Shower Up, a mobile shower site for persons experiencing homelessness.  In addition to volunteering through St. B's, you may also volunteer directly on Shower Up's website.

Our next volunteer date is November 12. Sign up here.

The Branch of Nashville

We offer regular volunteer opportunities to pack food boxes for distribution at The Branch of Nashville, a faith-based food distribution and language resource center in Antioch. There are also opportunities to welcome, register, and deliver food boxes to guests of The Branch. In addition to volunteering through St. B's, you may volunteer directly through The Branch's website.

Our next volunteer date is October 14 from 9:30am-12pm. Sign up here.  You must also complete the volunteer registration form for the Branch on the Sign-Up Genius page.

Other volunteer opportunities

Many of our mission partners and other organizations offer volunteer opportunities. Here some options recommended by members of our Missions & Outreach Committee where they volunteer.

Refugee Response Teams

We are grateful to the many parishioners who signed up to volunteer with Siloam Health through their Nashville Neighbors program. We have three (3) teams of individuals and families who have been trained and are providing health information and building relationships with newly arrived Afghan refugees. Contact Doug Heimburger for more information.

St. Luke's Pantry

We provide items for the St. Luke's Pantry each month. St Luke's Community House creates a community where children, families, and seniors from different backgrounds can easily access the resources needed to live fulfilling lives.

They are always in need of;  Diapers (all sizes welcome but children’s sizes 3, 4, 5, & 6 are our most urgent need), Non-perishable food, Hygiene products (toothpaste, soap, toilet paper, deodorant, lotion etc.) Feminine hygiene products, Household cleaning supplies (detergent, cleaners, bleach, etc.), Baby formul, Pet food. You can also donate through their AMAZON or TARGET wish list. Please leave collections for St. Luke's food pantry in the cabinet beside the doors to the gym.

St. Luke's especially needs at this time diapers for babies and children and diaper wipes.

Thistle Farms Graduation

Thistle Farm's Graduation, formerly called Magdalene Graduation, is held each May, with a parade down the back street behind Thistle Farms and graduation on the back balcony of the cafe. St. B's creates the gift baskets for the graduates each year.  Graduation spring 2022 has already occurred. You can find more information about Thistle Farms here.
