Meredith Flynn

Meredith has always known that working with children was her call and delight. Between her own childhood experience growing up in a loving, Episcopal church community and her years as a parent and an elementary teacher, serving as our Director of Children and Family Formation is a sweet spot for her.

She grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and Newark, Ohio and graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield. Ohio. Her first teaching experience was in east Baltimore, Maryland where she learned a lot about urban poverty and also found that inquiry-based science sparked joy and interest in her students. She came to Nashville in 1998 to receive her Masters in Science Education from Vanderbilt University thinking she would return to the east coast upon graduating. However, she found St. B’s, met her now-husband Joe, began teaching in public school in Middle Tennessee, and is still here, 24 years later!

When Meredith and Joe’s three sons began Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, her interest in Montessori Education grew. She became certified in Lower Elementary Montessori, taught in a Montessori school, and then started and led a Montessori homeschool tutorial program at St. B’s from 2014-2020. She counts her Catechesis training in Levels 1 and 2 as a significant part of her own spiritual formation and prays that the children of this parish also come to know both their own belovedness and the deep mystery of God as they grow up in the St. B’s community.

When Meredith is not at St. B’s, you might find her driving kids to school activities, cheering them on at games, hanging around the kitchen counter hoping to catch a conversation with her husband or sons, and maybe noodling around on the piano or guitar. Want to talk about family life? Spiritual life? Life in general? Please reach out by email or text. She’d love to share some time with you! Click here to reach Meredith.
