Short Term Missions

Short Term Missions at St. B's is a team that supports cross-cultural, short term mission trips within our church body. The purpose of short term mission trips is to minister to non-believers' physical, emotional and spiritual needs through building relationships and sharing the Good News of Christ. These trips are local, state and nationwide as well as to other countries.

Long Term Missions

The purpose of the Long Term Missions Team at St. B's is to support in prayer, discernment and financially individuals and families that are called to be missionaries from St. Bartholomew's.

A key focus of our Church is to identify and help to develop local St. B's members for long term mission trips, vocational ministry and seminary. Part of this development is the Discernment Process, which began in January of 2002.

Discernment Process: The purpose of this process is to help individuals to clearly understand and clarify their calling in Christian ministry and long term mission work. Each individual/family in the discernment process has a group of people who participate on their discernment team. At the end of the process the discernment team makes a recommendation to the clergy and vestry as to whether or not the individual should move forward or not in the person's chosen ministry/mission. Members of each discernment team are selected in part by the individual as well as the clergy.

Missionary Interface: Part of the responsibilities of the Long Term Mission Team and Coordinator are to serve as an interface and communicator to the church family of St. B's on the progress, needs, and prayer requests of our missionaries. This communication area is also key in keeping our missionaries informed of what is transpiring back at home in Nashville to ensure that they know they are loved and are an integral part of the St. B's church family.
