Music

Though music is only one component of worship, St. B's has long been known for excellence in blending traditional and modern styles for each service.

On any given Sunday morning, the loft might contain, an organist, choir, mic'd vocalists, a guitarist, pianist, drummer, bassist, violinist, flautist, trumpeter, piper, and an accordion. We at St. B's believe worship unites us with God and with all believers across time and space. A glorious part of our tradition is that our liturgy is ever ancient and ever new, so whether you prefer the hymns and organ or praise choruses with guitars, there is a place for you here.

Musicians

Vocalists and instrumentalists (classical and contemporary) are needed to assist in leading worship in our Sunday morning services. If you sing or play an instrument--ANY instrument--proficiently, there may well be a place for you, either in our main Sunday services or assisting in other ministries.

Most Sunday morning worship participants are scheduled once a month. Scores and audio samples are distributed via email during the week before each service.

Rehearsals are Sunday mornings at 7:30 a.m., followed by 2 morning services at 8:30 and 10:30.

The Chamber Singers

The Chamber Singers is a mixed choir of more experienced singers that meets weekly from September through May, offering classic and modern choral selections regularly throughout the year. The Chamber Singers meet on Wednesday evenings from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Some basic music-reading ability is required.

Children's Choirs

Singing in the choir on Wednesday nights is a great way for children, ages 4 yrs. through 6th grade to develop their musical gifts. It's also a great way for the whole family to connect with others at St. B's.

Our Kids Choir, directed by Pam Goodenough, meets in the school year on Wednesdays beginning with a meal at 5:30 p.m. and rehearsal from 6 - 6:45 p.m. This choir sings at both services at the very beginning of the service.

Session 1: September 5 - October 7, 2018

Session 2: November 7 - December 9, 2018

Session 3: January 16 - March 3, 2019

Session 4: March 27 - May 5, 2019

The Parish Choir

The Parish Choir meets seasonally to prepare for special services during Advent and Holy Week.  All adults (high school and above) are welcome to attend. The Parish Choir is a perfect opportunity for those who love to sing but are only able to make a seasonal commitment.

We usually hold a half day retreat to kick the parish choir season off and rehearse on Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in place of The Chamber Singers.

Audio Engineers

Led by part-time staff member, Meg Settle, volunteer audio engineers are responsible for Sunday morning services and other events throughout the year. Weddings and funerals are stipendiary. Experience is preferred, but training is available for interested participants.

Liturgical Dance

Liturgical dance teaches children and youth to offer praise and worship to the Lord through movement, engaging with the story of God while learning and connecting with others. Directed by Anna Hayden.
