Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 5 - 7 p.m.
In the Parish Hall
The last day of Epiphany is "Fat" or "Shrove" Tuesday. It is the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Traditionally on this day pantries would be emptied of fat, eggs and other "indulgent" food in preparation for the Lenten fast that begins the following day. With this, the tradition of a "pancake supper" arose, using up the fat and eggs from the pantry.
Please join us at St. B's for our Pancake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 21. We'll serve from 5 p.m. until 7. Come and have breakfast for dinner. Enjoy pancakes, sausage and all the works.
Come and feast before the Lenten fast begins.
Incidentally the word "shrove" is the past tense of the old english word "to shrive" which means to hear the confession of another's sins and offer forgiveness.
